Review of Code of the Street Decency, Violence, and the...

For this assignment I decided to read the book Code of the Street: decency, violence, and the moral life of the inner city by Elijah Anderson. This book is about how inner city people live and try and survive by living with the code of the streets. The code of the streets is basically morals and values that these people have. Most of the time it is the way they need to act to survive. Continuing on within this book review I am going to discuss the main points and arguments that Anderson portrays within the book. The main points that the book has, goes along with the chapters. These points consist of Street and decent families, respect, drugs violence, street crime, decent daddy, the mating game, black inner city grandmother. Now within†¦show more content†¦Objects consist of clothes, money, jewelry and almost anything that they can steal from other people. Although having juice is meant to get you respect it can also make the person a target this is shown in the book here, à ¢â‚¬Å"there are no guarantees against challenges, because there are always people around looking to fight to increase their share of respect.† Anderson (1999). Also if you are highly respected and feared someone might think that if they can steal from you or beat you down then they will gain more juice. The next argument that I was seeing in this chapter was about the people needing juice. After reading that people can be subjected to more violence I don’t believe they should really be looking to get juice especially if all they want is respect I’m sure that they can find respect in another form. Continuing on the next chapter is drugs, violence, and street crime. Now this chapter actually gets into the discussion of how the people become involved with drugs and mainly the selling of them. The main theme is youths and their involvement, most of these youths get involved with the drugs because they are a part of a neighborhood peer group. Most of these peer groups potentially started out as groups of friends, or youth groups and then turned into gangs of some sort. Also it discusses that youths from decent families are very resistant, but the ones who are supposed to be bread winners but have very littleShow MoreRelatedAlbert Bandura s Social Learning Theory1737 Words   |  7 Pagesdoes not give the specific conditions that criminality is cultivated among people but explains that most people seek legal ways because of reinforcements such as money and status. Air France essay Free Essays

Describe how you would assess how a row (keyword-engine pair) is performing and how to manage it To figure out how a row (keyword-engine pair) is performing, we need to do cost-benefit analysis first. In other words, since company’s goal is to sell tickets and create value, it would be useful to assess by measuring dollar amount earned from a dollar of cost (= Amount/Total cost). However, the row is already in ascending order of dollar amount relative to total cost. Therefore, looking at the sales figure only is not the best way to assess keyword-engine pair performance. I took out all the numbers that have no conversion rate. That means, it did not generate any sales and these will not be helpful in assessing the performance. Then, among those numbers with conversion rates, I only looked at the numbers of which the amount is bigger than the cost. Otherwise, company is losing money whenever it pays advertising. Then, I multiplied average position with click through rate and conversion rate so that to calculate how people relatively choose to pick up Air France and buy tickets via website. This will tell how its keyword performs with search engine to generate sales over cost. However, to manage well, we also have to consider Ad rank. QS is determined by click thru rate and bid strategy is actually average CPC. If we multiply together, we can get Ad rank. To perform well, we need have higher click thru rate rather than higher CPC. Therefore, we also need to look at relative CPC assuming same position. That’s why I looked at other numbers without conversions rate too. Apply your performance metrics to each of the keyword-engine pairs (i. e to each of the rows) and identify the â€Å"top 10† keyword-engine pairs to pursue   Below are the top 10 results based on performance metrics that I mentioned above. However, we can see that most keywords already contain france . I believe people who typed france will look at Air France site automatically, so the company should not focus highly on the word. I confirmed this logic by looking at numbers without conversion rate. See below. And also, the first one should be an outlier, since only one click generated 900% of sales. So, I calculated again filtering these two words out. Below is the result. As we can see from above, both â€Å"cheap†and â€Å"paris† are a good match with â€Å"Google†. The Bronze Horseman free essay sample

An analysis of this famous poem by Alexander Pushkin. This paper studies the work of poet Alexander Pushkin. The author examines the poem The Bronze Horseman, its themes of reform and terror, the symbolism of the poem, the characters of the poem, style and figures of speech used by the poet. The author looks at how this poem relates to the poets life and other works. From the very beginning of his poem, Pushkin apparently wishes to demonstrate to the reader that his poem is about a real event and a real subject, why this is so important remains unclear. Pushkin cites his sources, much as a college student today is required to list his or her own consulted sources on a Works Cited page. The poem The Bronze Horseman is about a real event, a flood that occurred in St. Petersburg. It is also about a real statue located in St. We will write a custom essay sample on The Bronze Horseman or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Petersburg but Pushkin does not make any claims about the real nature of the statue, only about the reality of the flood.
